Simon Nicholls has an interest in cinema; often painting video-stores from the 1990s populated with famous film couples. His local landscapes capture views from journeys on trains between Campbelltown and Revesby. Simon’s vast travels continue to provide inspiration for his drawings; from restaurant cabaret performers, Hawaii beach scenes, Los Angeles Motorways to River Nile sunsets. He enjoys studying at the National Art School and TAFE to expand his technical skills. In 2023, Simon won the Traditional Award at the Fisher’s Ghost Art Prize.
Simon Nicholls is a member of Little Orange, a Campbelltown Arts Centre working studio for artists who identify as a person living with disability, d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing and/or Disabled Creatives.
Simon Nicholls' signed prints explore a range of nostalgic themes, including old video rental stores, sunset scenes of pizza joints and fairies in suburban gardens.
