Tracey Prioste is a contemporary artist who works exclusively with charcoal powder and brushes giving her artworks a soft and delicate finish and meditative painterly atmosphere. Her preference for building values rather than reducing and removing medium creates a space of quiet contemplation.

Tracey’s focus on the eyes of her subject matter usually animals, draws the viewer into her photorealistic portraits, and ask of the viewer to consider the depth of emotion present in the expression. Her personification of animals in this way is in part a reflection on her youth growing up on a rural property in Queensland, but more intriguingly a comment on deep diving into ones inner child and how we deal with those ‘big’ emotions.
